Our
Congress
started
with
us
being
met
at
Belgrade
Airport
and
driven
to
our
hotel,
The
Crown
Plaza,
a
very
good
hotel
with
very
helpful
staff
and
good
food.

Tuesday
was
Registration
day
where
we
met
old
friends
and
made
new
ones,
including
Bill
and
Judy
from
Canada,
who
had
only
just
heard
about
the
international.

Wednesday
On
Wednesday
we
visited
the
Military
Crystal
Hall
for
the
opening
ceremony
followed
by
cocktails
and
lots
of
photos.
Heads
of
Delegations
alongside
their
flags
and
the
rest
of
us.Also
visited
the
Military
Museum
and
Victory
Monument.
This
was
followed
by
lunch
at
the
“Amphora
Restaurant”. Lots of good food and wine.

Thursday
Thursday
saw
us
travelling
to
Novi
Sad
Petrovaradin
Fortress
and
Museum.
Tried
for a group photo but it was very windy.

Thursday
Back
on
the
buses
for
a
visit
to
Sremski
Karlovei,
a
cultural,
political
and
religious
centre
for
Serbia.
Walked
round
the
orthodox
church
and
visited
the
Bajilo
wine
cellar.
The
cellar
is
owned
by
an
ex
submariner
and
he
provided
all
the
wine
for
the congress.

Thursday
An
excellent
lunch
was
provided
by
the
“Danube
Restaurant”,
and
a
good
sing
by
the
Russians.Then
it
was
back
to
the
hotel
for
some
free
time
before
dinner
at
the
“Yugoslavia
Hotel”
followed
by
a
firework
display.

Friday
Friday
was
a
very
busy
day,
with
visits
to
Tito’s
tomb
and
museum.
Then
onto
St.
Sava
church,
where
a
choir
sang
for
us.
The
church
is
being
rebuilt
so
only
the
crypt
was open, but it was very beautiful.

Friday
At
Friendship
Park
we
were
awarded
the
great
honour
of
planting
a
tree.
Planting
trees
in
this
park
is
usually
reserved
for
visiting
heads
of
state,
so
it
was
a
real
honour.
This
was
followed
by
lunch,
then
back
to
the
hotel
for
a
heads
of
delegation
meeting
and
to
prepare
for
the
closing
ceremony
and
dinner.
The
closing
ceremony
took
place
in
the
“Atlantic
Restaurant”
with
a
gala
dinner,
a
good
band,
2
very
good
singers
and
a
troupe
of
Serbian
dancers.
The
usual
presentations
were made and were followed by dancing.

made
and
were
followed
by
dancing
and
the
handing
over
of
the
column
to
Sweden
who
will
host
the
next congress.

Last Day
On
our
last
day
we
travelled
to
Avala
Mountain,
the
highest
point
in
the
Belgrade
area.
We
visited
the
Monument
to
Hero’s,
then
back
on
the
buses
to
Belgrade
for
a
boat
trip
on
the
river,
lunch
and
a
wreath
laying ceremony.

Last Day
This
congress
was
very
enjoyable,
very
relaxed
and
didn’t
involve
too
much
rushing
around
although
we
did
have
to
do
quite
a
lot
of
walking,
which
proved
too
much
for
some
of
the
less
able
participants.
All
things
considered
the
congress was a big success.
